German Shepherds: The Career-Oriented Breed

If you've ever walked past a police or military dog, chances are you were looking at a German shepherd. An intelligent breed with a stable temperament, German shepherds can be trained to carry out important duties. After completing an extensive training program, they tend to follow down these career paths:

  • Police dogs: German shepherds have a keen sense of smell which makes them the perfect breed to sniff out bombs, drugs and corpses. Just like their police trainers, they too can move up the ranks.
  • Assistance dogs: Anyone who’s ever encountered a German shepherd understands the loyalty they have to their owners. This loyalty, combined with their intelligence, enables German shepherds to serve those with a variety of medical conditions and disabilities.

There is no limit to the amount of jobs a German shepherd can take on.
